How should I navigate crosswalks?  First of all, make sure the roadway is clear before walking onto the roadway.  Vehicles are required by law to stop for pedestrians who are “inside the crosswalk and “on the roadway.”  Standing on the curb next to the roadway does not mean that vehicles have to stop for you; you must be in the crosswalk for vehicles to

be required to  stop. Remember your safety is of paramount importance; not all drivers obey traffic laws, so make sure the roadway is clear before entering the crosswalk.  If you would like to report any violations or problem areas contact Sgt.
