Code Enforcement is responsible for improving the quality of life for Cornelius residents by ensuring compliance with public health and safety regulations, in addition to Town codes relating to property maintenance and upkeep.

 

A Cornelius Police Department Officer spotted an illegal dumping ground in a vacant field in one of the residential neighborhoods and reported it to Code Enforcement Officer, Steve Bomgardner. Code Enforcement took action and notified the property owner. The property owner had the field cleaned up within three weeks of being notified. For years, the property had been an illegal dumping ground for furniture and appliances. The property has been blocked off to prevent further dumping from occurring.
