 The Special Services Unit is responsible for a variety of small unit functions that enhance the service delivery to our citizens. Cornelius PD is proud to be very active in our school system, and the special services unit works very closely with all of our principals to provide DARE (Drug and Alcohol Resistance Education) programs, bike rodeos, educational presentations, station tours, school security inspections, dangers in gangs programs, and to provide full-time police resources on campus. This unit also is responsible for police recruitment and background investigations, coordinating Department-wide training, maintaining all training records, and assisting with accreditation standards as assigned.
